More than 12,000 people flocked to The Spot in Randwick on Sunday 13 March for one of Sydney's most popular street festivals and the Australian Film Walk of Fame," Randwick Mayor Murray Matson said.

"A popular favourite of the day was the funk and soul group The Martini Club who had people dancing in the street," said the Mayor.

"Other highlights of the festival included the hamburger eating competition and Ambrosia Café's recreation of the largest burger ever recorded in the Guinness Book of Records.

"The festival culminated in the induction of well-known Aussie actors Jack Thompson and Gary Sweet into the Australian Film Walk Fame, who were immortalised with their very own plaque on the footpath outside the iconic Randwick Ritz Cinema.

"The Spot is fast developing a reputation as one of Sydney's leading food and film destinations and Randwick Council's street festival is a celebration of this magnificent cultural hub.

"Randwick Council would like to thank The Spot Business Association, the Ritz Cinema and all the local businesses for their community spirit and help in making The Spot Festival such a wonderful day."
